DUE: January 20, 2012
Pursuant to Texas Insurance Code §38.001, the Department requests specific data from companies writing private passenger automobile insurance in Texas. The requested information pertains only to bodily injury and property damage liability coverage written on a private passenger automobile insurance policy.
For the purpose of this data call refer to the following definitions.
Definitions
• Named Driver Policy/Endorsement - A private passenger automobile insurance policy/endorsement that provides coverage only for family/household members who are specifically listed or named on the policy and includes coverage for permissive drivers who reside outside the household.
• Named Driver Exclusion Endorsement - An endorsement attached to a private passenger automobile insurance policy that excludes coverage for a person specifically named in the endorsement.
• Standard Policy - A private passenger automobile insurance policy that provides coverage for the named insured, named insured's spouse, family members residing in the household, or other persons using the insured auto. A standard policy does not include a named driver endorsement or a named driver exclusion endorsement.
• Other Policy Types - Any other type of private passenger automobile policy that does not fit the definition of one of the defined policies above and is not a policy with a named driver exclusion endorsement.
• Claim - Claims should be reported per occurrence for liability combined and not per claimant or per coverage.
• Incurred Losses - Paid plus outstanding case reserves. Do not include loss adjustment expenses.
Reported policy types must equal 100 percent of the total book of private passenger automobile business.
Company Reporting Detail
Insurers must complete the attached form for each admitted company. County mutuals operating under Texas Insurance Code §912.056 must report separately for each managing general agent (MGA), district, or local chapter. Do NOT report by group.
Responses are due no later than January 20, 2012. Submit your responses electronically by email using the PDF form provided below. Please print and save a copy of your responses for your records. The Department may request additional information in support of the responses provided.
