Re: Commissioner's Order No. 02-0848, adoption of new identification information for 2001, 2002, and 2003 model private passenger automobiles, Texas Automobile Rules and Rating Manual, Symbol and Identification Section.

The Commissioner of Insurance, by Commissioner's Order No. 02-0848, has adopted new identification information for 2001, 2002, and 2003 model private passenger automobiles for the Texas Automobile Rules and Rating Manual (the Manual). Vehicle specifications and other identification information do not affect rates, whereas Private Passenger Automobile Physical Damage Rating Symbols are used in calculating rates. No change in symbols is made in these amendments to the Manual's Symbol and Identification Section.

The amendments were adopted to become effective October 22, 2002, which is 60 days after publication of the Commissioner's action in the Texas Register.
