This bulletin announces a call for rate information for the Texas Medicare Supplement Handbook and Rate Guide published by the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI).
All companies writing Medicare supplement insurance for new customers in Texas after August 1, 2002, are required to respond to this request. The information collected through this data call will be published in a rate guide to allow consumers to compare annual premiums for Medicare supplement and Medicare Select plans. You should submit data only for Medicare supplement and Medicare Select plans that have been approved and are currently offered for sale in Texas.
You must provide the required information under authority of Section 38.001 of the Texas Insurance Code.
The deadline for submitting rate information is September 20, 2002.
Companies will enter their rates directly into a password-protected Web page on the TDI Web site. The Web address for the rate collection forms is

All rate information should be for rates in effect on August 1, 2002. The Web site provides detailed instructions on entering the requested information. Please remember that you are responsible for the accuracy of the data submitted.
