This bulletin announces a call for rate information for the 2002-2003 Auto Insurance Rate Guide. The rate guide is published annually by the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI).
TDI requires all companies in the top 80 percent of premium volume in each rate guide region to be listed in the guide. A region is a group of two to four auto rating territories. All other companies (those not in the top 80 percent) may provide TDI with this information and be included in the guide if they choose. The e-mail accompanying this Bulletin indicates which regions your company is required to provide data for.
You must provide required premium information within 10 days, under authority of Section 38.001 of the Texas Insurance Code.
The deadline for submitting rate information is August 16, 2002.
If your company is not in the top 80 percent of the market in a given region but would like to be included in the guides, you must provide the rate information by the deadline. Optional information received after the deadline may not be included in the guides. If your response is optional and you do not want to be included in the rate guides, you do not need to contact TDI.
Some companies may be required to submit information for some regions, but not for others. These companies may provide information for the optional regions if they wish.
Companies will enter their rates directly into a password-protected Web page on the TDI Web site. The Web address for the rate collection form is

The attached instruction sheet provides more detailed information about entering the requested information. Please remember that you are responsible for the accuracy of the data submitted.
