Commissioner’s Bulletin # B-0044-99

August 20, 1999

To:   ALL PROPERTY AND CASUALTY INSURANCE COMPANIES

Re:   Public Protection Classification (PPC) for Dixie Fire District (FD).

The Public Protection Survey for Dixie Fire District has been completed and the Insurance Services Office has recommended that the current public protection classification of 7/9 be changed to a 6/9. The Texas Department of Insurance has approved this change.

The survey for the community of Dixie was initiated by the Insurance Services Office in June '98; however, due to scheduling conflicts, the survey was not completed until August 8, 1999. Therefore, because of the delay, the recommended split classification of 6/9 will be effective January 1, 1999. Insurers are requested to amend any policies issued on or after January 1, 1999, or on or after the effective date of the individual insurer´s filing of the benchmark rates if the filing was effective later than January 1, 1999, to reflect the correct premium for the approved PPC. Insurers may use the most reasonable and economically feasible method of correcting policies to reflect the correct PPC and providing any necessary return premium to the insurers.

Questions regarding this bulletin should be directed to Ike Williams, P.E., Assistant Chief Engineer, Texas Department of Insurance, P.O. Box 149104, Austin, Texas 78714-9104, 512-322-2212.

Sincerely,

Alexis Dick
