Commissioner’s Bulletin # B-0018-99

March 16, 1999

To:   ALL PROPERTY AND CASUALTY INSURANCE COMPANIES

Re:   Correction to the Public Protection Classification (PPC) for Balcones Heights, Texas and Fritch, Texas.

This is to inform you that the communities of Balcones Heights, Tx. and Fritch, Tx. were inadvertently assigned incorrect Public Protection Classifications (PPC's). The Insurance Services Office assigned a PPC of 5 to Balcones Heights; however, the correct PPC is 4. A PPC of 8 was assigned to Fritch, but the correct PPC is 7. As a result, policies have been written at slightly higher rates. Therefore, insurers are requested to amend any policy issued on and after February 1, 1998, or on and after the effective date of the individual insurer's filing of benchmark rates if the filing was effective later than February 1, 1998, to reflect the correct premium for the approved PPC's. Insurers may use the most reasonable and economically feasible method of correcting policies to reflect the correct PPC and providing any necessary return premium to the insurers.

Questions regarding this bulletin should be directed to Ike Williams, P.E., Assistant Chief Engineer, Texas Department of Insurance, P.O. Box 149104, Austin, Texas 78714-9104, 512-322-2212.

Sincerely,

Alexis Dick
