DWC’s Brown Bag Series returns this fall
DWC Hearings is relaunching its statewide Brown Bag Series this fall — an informal, lunchtime opportunity for workers’ compensation system participants to meet with the Hearings leadership team. These sessions are designed to give attendees a firsthand look at ongoing improvements in dispute resolution, share updates on Hearings’ operations, and invite open dialogue about how we can better serve the system.

Adopted rule on return-to-work guidelines
DWC adopted amendments to 28 Texas Administrative Code Section 137.10, concerning return-to-work guidelines. The changes are necessary to instruct insurance carriers, health care providers, and employers to use the disability duration values in the current edition of the ODG by MCG, published by MCG Health, instead of those in the MDGuidelines (formerly known as Medical Disability Advisor), as guidelines for the evaluation of expected or average return-to-work timeframes.

Notice and opportunity to comment on DWC Regulatory Efficiency Review
DWC is working with the Texas Regulatory Efficiency Office (TREO) to streamline its rules. Under Texas Government Code Section 465.0052(4), TREO coordinates with state agencies to reduce rules or other regulatory requirements, including by reducing inefficiencies from rules or other regulatory requirements, and by eliminating those that are unnecessary or ineffective. As a result of the regulatory review, DWC is considering amending, repealing, and adopting certain rules. DWC is seeking comments on those actions, and is particularly interested in feedback on possible cost savings.
