The Texas Division of Workers' Compensation (DWC) has announced that Global Animal Products LLC's plant at 11109 S. Washington St., Amarillo, Texas, has been awarded the prestigious Lone Star Safety Award. This recognition highlights the company's exceptional commitment to workplace safety and health.
Global Animal Product’s Washington St. facility, which employs 11 workers in the manufacture of chelated minerals for livestock, joins the company's Airway Blvd. location in receiving this honor. The Airway Blvd. facility was previously recognized with a Lone Star Safety Award in October 2022.
Adding to the company’s safety accolades, Global Animal Product’s Washington St. plant also received the Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP) designation from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) in November 2024. The SHARP program acknowledges small business employers who have utilized OSHA’s free on-site consultation services through the Occupational Safety and Health Consultation Program (OSHCON) and operate exemplary safety and health programs.

The Lone Star Safety Program recognizes Texas employers with outstanding safety programs that can serve as models for other companies. Recipients of this award have shown a strong commitment to workplace safety, resulting in lower rates of work-related injuries and illnesses.
Global Animal Products LLC's achievement in securing these safety recognitions underscores its position as a leader in workplace safety within the animal nutrition industry. To qualify for the Lone Star Safety Award, the company demonstrated a proven safety program, maintained injury incidence rates below the national average for the past three years, and had no work-related fatalities within the prior 12 months.
As a recipient of this award, Global Animal Products may be invited to share its best practices at industry events, mentor other organizations, participate in safety and health panels, or contribute to the Texas Workers' Compensation Conference on September 29-30 at the Embassy Suites in San Marcos.
