The Texas Department of Insurance, Division of Workers’ Compensation (DWC), offers American Heart Association–certified CPR, AED, and First Aid training designed to help workers and employers respond confidently during medical emergencies. Participants receive hands-on instruction and practical lifesaving skills that can help protect coworkers, family members, and the public.
Our classes are taught by certified instructors with workplace safety experience and meet OSHA first aid and medical services requirements under 29 CFR 1910.151 and 29 CFR 1926.50.

What you’ll learn
This comprehensive course provides American Heart Association curriculum and includes:
- First aid — Responding to common workplace injuries and emergencies such as cuts, burns, sprains, choking, allergic reactions, and heat-related illnesses.
- CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) — Performing lifesaving chest compressions and rescue breaths for adults during cardiac or breathing emergencies.
- AED (Automated External Defibrillator) — Safely using an AED during sudden cardiac arrest.
- Emergency response — Recognizing life-threatening situations and taking quick, effective action until emergency responders arrive.
Class details
- Course Length: Approximately 5 hours.
- Cost: $35 per participant.
- Certification: Participants who successfully complete the course receive an official American Heart Association completion eCard.
