The Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) has announced new leaders for its Life and Health and Customer Operations divisions.
Chris Herrick, who has led the agency’s Customer Operations Division since 2018, will move into the role of deputy commissioner over the Life and Health Division. Under Herrick’s leadership, TDI reduced complaint and application processing times, improved call center performance, and implemented a new system to resolve medical billing disputes. He replaces Rich Lunsford, who is leaving the agency to return to the private sector.
Randall Evans, who has served as associate commissioner in Customer Operations since January 2020, will become deputy commissioner role for that division. Evans came to TDI from the Indiana Department of Insurance where he served as deputy commissioner of Licensing, Education and Title.
Those changes are effective September 6.
TDI also announced that Kenisha Schuster is the new associate commissioner in Agency Affairs and will lead the agency’s governmental relation teams. She has been with TDI for three years and has experience as a legislative staff member.
