The Texas Department of Insurance, Division of Workers’ Compensation (DWC) recently recognized Capacity of Texas with a Lone Star Safety Award for its exemplary workplace safety program. Capacity of Texas employs 119 workers at its Longview plant. It manufactures terminal truck tractors for ports and railway hubs around the world.
“Capacity of Texas has gone above and beyond in their efforts to create a strong safety culture for their employees and a standard of safety for their industry,” said Chris D’Amura, DWC’s director of Workplace Safety. “They have developed excellent procedures to help prevent and control hazards, and do a great job getting employees involved by encouraging them to report concerns and potential safety issues.”
To qualify for a Lone Star Safety Award, employers must have a proven safety program with injury rates below the national average for the previous three years and no work-related deaths within the past 12 months. Companies receiving this award may be invited to give presentations at industry associations, mentor other organizations, serve on panels for safety and health issues, and participate in the Texas Workers’ Compensation Conference.
