Current opportunity: Windows Administrator

Internal/External Posting – TDI Employees and General Public

The Windows Administrator plans and budgets, as well as analyzes user requirements, procedures, and problems to automate processing or to improve existing systems. May plan, assign, and/or supervise the work of others.


This position:

  • provides advance problem resolution to Windows based systems. This will include cross training other technicians on problem resolution;
  • analyzes, designs, and implements server application installations for Microsoft Windows Operating Systems and the SharePoint environment;
  • creates, analyzes and modifies procedures for efficiency and effectiveness;
  • develops, performs, and sets objectives for policies and procedures ensuring the security and integrity of the local area network or wide area network environment;
  • oversees projects that require coordinating, planning, and scheduling during project development and implementation stages;
  • oversees the training of staff prior to the implementation of technical systems and offers advice and guidance during the implementation process;
  • analyzes and assists in defining agency disaster recovery procedures;
  • determines operational, technical, and support requirements for the location, installation, operation, and maintenance of data processing, data communications, desktop processing, and other office equipment and systems;
  • administrates user IDs, rights and privileges on security devices, applications, desktops and servers within the LAN and WAN based network environment; and
  • performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university. Education and experience relevant to position requirements may be substituted for one another on a year-for-year basis. 


Additionally, this position requires:

  • three years’ experience in systems analysis, design, and/or administration work.

Preferences for this position include:

  • one year of most recent experience in an advanced Network Administration role within a Microsoft Windows environment.; and
  • experience in using Microsoft Windows server administration and/or SharePoint configuration and administration.

This position requires demonstrated knowledge of:

  • the limitations and capabilities of computer systems;
  • the techniques used in the design of non-automated systems;
  • computer hardware and software;
  • routers and data communication methods;
  • computer operating systems such as Windows 2012/2016 Server;
  • knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint;and
  • Windows registry system.

This position requires demonstrated skill in:

  • problem solving, decision making and planning;
  • effectively communicating both verbally and in writing;
  • coordinating and solving problems, in writing and revising program code, and in troubleshooting computer systems; and
  • the use of personal computers sufficient to enter and extract data from related systems and programs such as Oracle and Access.

This position requires the demonstrated ability to:

  • train staff in the use and maintenance of complex systems in a clear and concise manner;
  • understand and follow complex instructions;
  • communicate professionally and effectively, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of employees and the public;
  • bend, stoop and safely lift items weighing 50 pounds;
  • analyze systems and procedures;
  • apply critical thinking to analyze systems and procedures; and
  • write and revise test plans, standards and procedures.
