On July 26, 2013, under Insurance Code §2151.207, the commissioner of insurance issued Commissioner's Order No. 2670. The order addresses changes in the rates for private passenger and commercial automobile insurance provided through the Texas Automobile Insurance Plan Association (TAIPA), which is the state's assigned risk plan. The changes are effective on October 1, 2013.
The commissioner ordered that the rates charged for private passenger automobile insurance provided through TAIPA increase by 6.4 percent for bodily injury liability and by 5.3 percent for property damage liability. The commissioner did not order changes in the rates for personal injury protection or uninsured/underinsured motorist coverages. The overall increase in the rates for private passenger automobile insurance provided through TAIPA is 5.6 percent.
The commissioner ordered that the rates charged for commercial automobile insurance provided through TAIPA reflect the most recently accepted Insurance Services Office, Inc. (ISO) loss costs and classification factors, as contained in the following filings:

You may download the revised rates, premiums, rating factors, and instructions (machine letters) to generate TAIPA private passenger and commercial automobile insurance rates for new and renewal business effective on or after October 1, 2013, from the Texas Department of Insurance website at www.tdi.texas.gov/bulletins/index.html. Select "Commissioner's Bulletin No. B-0020-13." You may also download the new TAIPA private passenger and commercial automobile rate bulletins, which are similar in format to the rate pages that will soon appear in the TAIPA manual. These are available in Excel and PDF formats.
